Impact
Our pieces are designed to be worn and loved for years to come. We believe in investing in a wardrobe that honours you and the planet equally.
Partnering with suppliers and manufacturers who share the same ethos as we do, who provide fair & ethical working conditions, ensures we can craft our product responsibly. We are on a mission to provide a holistic approach to style and wellbeing, from the creation of our garments to the lifestyle of our community.
We stand for inclusivity, authenticity and slow fashion centred around mindful living; for oneself, for others and the planet.
As a business, our journey to contribute to a more sustainable future is an ongoing practice. In our infancy, we are laying the foundations of the values we want to grow upon and commit to educating ourselves on how to work towards becoming 100% carbon neutral.
Manufacturing our products responsibly and ethically is a non-negotiable practice. We have developed relationships with partners that ensure sustainable processes within their businesses and support the wellbeing of their team within ethical working conditions.
At The Haze, we are dedicated to our ethos of slow fashion. Adopting the philosophy of less is more and curating conscious collections, we have more control over our footprint. By ordering low quantities of each style, we reduce the amount of redundant stock and offer truly unique garments.
This journey of sustainability and best practice will be ever evolving. Discover what we have implemented so far below and our goals we continue to work towards.
Fabric
Natural Fibres
Natural fibre and yarn are the foundation of each garment we produce. We remain committed to sourcing quality fabrics that not only wear well but have low environmental impacts. As we continue to grow and expand our categories, we aim to introduce new initiatives and keep you updated on how we remain connected to our mission of best practice and transparency.
Cotton
Cotton is a natural fibre, which is derived from the boll or protective case around the seeds of the cotton plant. Compared to synthetic fibre, cotton has the advantage of being a completely natural product, making it biodegradable.
Even though organic cotton is still not perfect, we believe it is a more environmentally friendly option and we aim to use GOTS cotton and BCI cotton initiatives wherever possible.
Linen
Linen is a natural fibre, which is derived from the stem of the flax plant. The production of linen involves low water consumption and no fertiliser or pesticides, making linen a renewable resource.
We use OEKO-TEX certified linens and French flax linen qualities to ensure your premium garments are made to last as long as possible, with the right care.
Deadstock
By using deadstock fabric we are taking fabric that cannot be used for its original purpose, due to overproduction or canceled orders for example, and using it instead of other virgin materials. This is a great way to ensure something that already exists is used before producing more fabric.
Design Room
In some circumstances, we have leftover fabric from the sampling process. This excess fabric is reused to create samples for any new designs in the making.
We work closely with our pattern makers and cutters to ensure the most economical layout is achieved when cutting bulk orders. Achieving as little waste as possible is always at the forefront of what we do. We are committed to minimising our contribution to landfill and will do what we can to repurpose any excess fabric.
Packaging & Marketing Materials
The Haze packaging has been considered to reflect more responsible choices, using biodegradable or recycled options wherever possible.
We continue to revise our choices and work with suppliers to make mindful decisions around what we use, from manufacture to us and from us to you.
Our swing tags are all made from 100% recycled paper. The string attaching the swing tags to your garments are also made from 100% recycled cotton.
The care labels found inside your garment are printed on 100% recycled cotton tape.
The garment bags used to ship our products from our manufacturers to us are 100% plant based biodegradable & home compostable.
When we ship your order to you, they are sent using 100% home compostable mailer bags from Hero Packaging.
We print all shipping labels onto our eco labels using a thermal printer, which uses only heat to print, no ink. These eco labels are also 100% home compostable, so they don't impair the ability for the mailer bag to compost in a home system.
All of our marketing materials, including your hand written thank you note you receive with your order, are made from 100% recycled materials.
